What you will learn
Learning Objectives:
1. At the conclusion of this course, the learner will be able to identify three similarities and differences between sensory integration and sensory-based interventions.
2. At the conclusion of this course, the learner will be able to describe five traits a child may demonstrate as a sign of being in an overstimulated state.
3. At the conclusion of this course, the learner will be able to define at least three calming and three alerting sensory strategies to use in their speech sessions.
4. At the conclusion of this course, the learner will be able to create a plan to incorporate sensory strategies within a speech session to maintain regulation while addressing speech-related goals.
Successful Completion of Course:
The following criteria will determine satisfactory completion of the course:
- Attendance to the entire length of the course evidenced by database logs. No partial credit will be awarded.
- Successful completion of post-course quiz on learning objectives with at least 8 of 10 answers correct.
- Completion of post-course survey

Curriculum

Aimee Piller, PhD, OTR/L, BCP, FAOTA
Instructor Bio
Dr. Piller is the owner and director of Piller Child Development, an outpatient pediatric therapy company with three locations in the greater Phoenix area. She has advanced training in sensory integration and also specializes in feeding therapy. She received her masters in occupational therapy from Temple University and her PhD in occupational therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She has her board certification in pediatrics from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and is also a fellow of AOTA.

Financial: Dr Piller is owner and receives a salary from of Piller Child Development, LLC. She is the co-author of the Teen Anxiety Program.
